Post EGM: Where do we go from here?
_ An EGM could be the catalyst the Humanist
Association of Ireland for a new beginning. Over the last few years, both Cork and Galway have put
forward constructive written suggestions to the Board; we do not believe that
any of these suggestions have been seriously debated or considered at Board
level. At the AGM last November, the
Galway Branch managed to get local member, Kevin Sheehan, elected to the Board.
Kevin was soon appointed Membership Secretary and has worked tirelessly over
recent months, and has observed at first hand the systemic problems which with
the current HAI Board. Hopefully with a critical mass of progressive
enthusiastic board members as well as a comprehensive set of proposals for
improvement which we have built up over the years which will form the basis for
a myriad of reforms we will see some real change which could see the HAI become
the effective, truly national organisation that its members deserve. We have
set up a website specifically for the purpose of detailing some of the
proposals we have submitted to the Board over the years which can be found on this website.
